1. Calathea
Calatheas are a family of tropical plants, Marantaceae, that open and close their leaves based on the amount of light. When they're in the dark, they fold up their leaves with a beautiful purplish-red back of the leaf. They come out each morning in this unique arrangement of shapes and colors. They're colorful and varied, ranging from spots, and patches, to lines. The leaves remind me of a Rorschach inkblot test because of the symmetrical patterning down the leaves.
