Grandma Eureka

Before she was Grandma Eureka, she was Maria Puentes, a girl growing up in the Cuban countryside, surrounded by tropical plants and gardens. She taught herself to grow, and fell in love with being outside every day, looking after her garden.

In the 1970s she came to Miami and started a small nursery in South Florida, growing avocado, mango and papaya. In 2010 her two sons began growing alongside her. Fruit trees led to indoor plants, and in 2014 that became Eureka Farms.

Maria's Garden

Part of our nursery is still hers. We call it Maria's Garden, and it is where she grows her fruit trees today. Her favorite is the avocado.

Her advice for anyone with a new plant is simple: treat it with love. The more love you give a plant, the more it grows.
