Care Guide 

PLANTING:

• Choose a well-draining location with full sun exposure.
• Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball and mix in compost to improve soil fertility.
• Place the shrub in the hole, making sure the top of the root ball is level with the surrounding soil.
• Fill the hole with soil, tamping down lightly, and water thoroughly.

SOIL:

• The gold lace juniper shrub prefers well-drained soil with a slightly acidic pH of 6.0 to 6.5.
• Avoid planting in heavy clay or poorly draining soils as this can lead to root rot.

MULCH:

• Apply a 2-3 inch layer of mulch around the base of the shrub to conserve moisture and regulate soil temperature.
• Avoid placing the mulch directly against the stem or trunk of the shrub as this can lead to decay.

LIGHT:

• Thrives in full sun, tolerates shade. 

WATER:

• Water during the first two months twice a week, increase in extreme hot days, as plants mature reduce water frequency to once a week. 
• Always verify the top 2-3 inches of soil, if dry to the touch water as needed.

FERTILIZE:

• The shrub is relatively low-maintenance and does not require frequent fertilization.
• Fertilize once in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer.

PRUNING:

• Prune in late winter or early spring to maintain desired shape and size.
• Remove any dead, diseased, or crossing branches.
• Avoid over-pruning as this can reduce the shrub's natural shape and lead to regrowth that is more susceptible to disease.
