Care & Maintainance
Care Guide
DISCLOSURE Please note Kentia Palms are susceptible to some yellowing and browning of the bottom leaves, stress from shipping and natural growth will cause the bottom fronds to yellow before browning, some level of maintenance is needed, trimming the frond once they begin to brown is needed, you may prune the frond from the bottom section of its own stem about an inch from the main trunk, this will also help the plant remain vibrant and promote new growth while exposing the main trunk.
HOW TO CARE FOR KENTIA PALM - Below see details on how to keep your new arrival healthy, happy and beautiful. If you’re a fan of indoor plants the Kentia Palm is a great addition to any collection, is simple and easy to care for, thrives in neglect, like many other palm varieties such as Chinese Fan Palm, Cat Palm, Date Palm, Majesty Palm or Kentia Palm, If you’re looking to expand your indoor tree collection consider a Palm, anyone of this tree will add a touch of grace and elegance to your home.
WATER MANAGEMENT FOR KENTIA PALM - Kentia Palm do enjoy frequent watering, plants purchased for indoors use can be watered less frequent, however frequency of watering will depend on the size of the plant, humidity levels and rate of growth. One of the most common mistakes in the care of indoor plants is overwatering, indoor plants are far more tolerant to underwatering than overwatering, Improper watering can result in fungal issues and root rot. It is recommended to monitor your houseplants and water them when they need it, rather than on a schedule. When watering plants the objective is to maintain the soil moist but never soggy, a moisture meter is a great tool to utilize to reduce the guesswork, We recommend to sample the top soil an inch deep every 3-4 days, if you notice is still moist hold off on watering until it dries further, since most plants water needs may be different this is a good way to determine each individual plant water requirements.
Water Recommendations base on pot size, we suggest to utilize a soil probe initially to determine humidity levels and when to water.
6 inch Pot plants, every 5-7 Days, 10-12 inch Pot plants, every 7-12 days
LIGHT - Kentia Palm enjoy bright indirect light, they can adapt to lower lighting conditions, however if bright light is available it is optimal and will encourage a higher rate of growth. If outdoors it should remain in shaded areas, direct sun exposure will scorch its delicate leaves. You can place the Kentia Palm near a window where the plant can receive the brightest available light, east, south, and west facing windows are the best options, we recommend to rotate the plant occasionally, this will allow the plant to receive bright light from different angles, it can minimize leaf drops from within the canopy and allow the plant to maintain even healthy growth all year round.
HUMIDITY - Regular Misting is recommended, Many of our houseplants come from the tropics, where humidity is very high, generally the air in our homes is dry, occasional misting houseplants is a very simple and effective way to boost humidity, an easy solution to the risk of overwatering your plants. Always pay attention to the color and texture of the leaves on your plant. Generally Plants with brown or dry leaf tips will benefit from regular misting to keep the plant happy and thriving, preferably in the mornings to allow the foliage to completely dry out during the day.
PLACEMENT AND TEMPERATURE - Selecting the right location for your plant indoors or outdoors is very important, micro climates can affect the health of the plant, make sure the plant does not receive air draft from near by AC/Heating vents, or warm air if close to a freezer, the foliage will dehydrate faster than it can hydrate from moisture in the air or in the soil, eventually turning brown and dropping, when plants are properly watered and care for and still display signs of wilting or seem sad it may help to relocate the plant to a different area for brighter indirect light. Please note most tropical plants are from the tropics, proper moisture is required for their health and survival, we highly recommend to bring your tropical plants indoors when temperatures are expected below 45s during winter months or above 90 during summer months, extreme weather can severely damage the plant.
FERTILIZING – No need to fertilize right away, We fertilize our plants during the production phase with slow release fertilizer which can last an additional 2-3 months supplying residual nutrients to the plant. Once you do decide to fertilize You may use a fertilizer formulated for interior plants, preferably a slow release fertilizer 180 days duration, fertilize during spring or fall base on label instructions.
CLEANING, REGULAR MAINTENANCE - Kentia Palm tree leaves are large elongated stemming from individual fronds, exercise care when cleaning since leaves are very tender. Simply add a few drops of dish soil to a cup of water, wet a soft cloth and manually wipe off dust off the leaves, is a simple solution that is inexpensive and works well without damaging the plant.

Such a lovely palm! Makes my new apartment look and feel quite elegant. Great packaging. This is the 5 foot to 5.5 foot size. Love, love, love my Howea Forsteriana!
It come to the front door at my complex was packed very nice and was so beautiful when I got it out the box. I definitely recommend this company for any of your plant needs
We love our palm tree! It is just beautiful and has made the transition quite well. We bought the largest option available and I was nervous that such a large plant would struggle with shipping and a new environment, but it seems to be thriving. This is about 4-5 weeks after purchase and it is just as green and healthy as when it arrived. We lost a single frond, but that well could be just normal, or due to moving it up a stairwell.
I love my Kentia Palm so much that I recently purchased a second one. Both arrived very well packaged, beautiful and healthy! I couldn’t be happier with this purchase! If you’re considering purchasing I highly recommend that you do. You won’t be sorry!
Pierre and staff was extraordinarily helpful and understanding . Have never been treated so well as a first time buyer. Product is spectacular. Packaged and delivered perfectly. Thank you so very much!
Superlative! These are real trees and more than one in the 5 gal. container. The garden centers carry Areca palms but replacing a 20+ year old Kentia palm took some searching and the price and delivery were great too.Upsizing the pot has the measuring tape out again and on the stand it’s about a foot from the coffered ceiling. The western exposure through the top of the arched window will make for a happy plant.
Beautiful palm! It came quickly and was packed very well including a support pole to prevent shipping damage. It arrived in perfect condition. This is the first time I've ordered a palm online and it definitely exceeded my expectations.
I've ordered two Kentia's from Eureka Farms. Both were delivered well. Packaging was solid and there no apparent damage to the plants during shipping. The first plant was a single Kentia 1-2' size. The second plant is (3) Kentia's, 2-3' in a single pot. The second plant was also delivered well, but has some very slight damage on one of the fronds, and they appear to have been planted slightly out of vertical, either that, or they shifted in transport; not sure. But that's not a big deal as I can replant them if I care enough. The new growth shoots appear to be a bit odd in shape, but I'm sure they will grow out well. See video for details.
Initially they sent me an obvious majestic palm, which is cheaper and absolutely not what I wanted. Luckily they sent the right one after. The Kentia has a small amount of powdery mildew. I took a photo and send it to Eureka Farms. They told me it was a big spray. I definitely know what powder mildew looks like and it was that. I will treat it because the plant is beautiful but beware.
The plant arrived, well packaged, healthy and undamaged. So that much was good. However, I ordered one of the multi-stem plants shown on the site, and I received a single-stem plant (see photo). When I Emailed the company to ask if I received the right thing, I got a response explaining to me that plants grow and the one I got would eventually look "more full". I'm not entirely disappointed; the plant I received is a Kentia and it is healthy and I'm sure it'll look better over time, but I would have preferred something a little closer to the one shown on the web site, and maybe a more personal/human response to my Email. Thanks.
The palm was full and beautiful and a great height and it shipped perfectly and settled in well to my space, but it shipped with leaf spot disease on the branches and petioles.
I was very excited to get this plant and it arrived in really great condition! However, now there is a brown and yellow leaf! 😢
I did not put in new soil. Maybe I should? Maybe a bigger pot? Everything else looks ok but I’m very concerned because this was a little expensive, but I really want it to survive!
Thanks!
